Movie star and comedian Bob Hope achieved a lot during his decades-long career. But his work during World War II entertaining and lifting the spirits of troops holds a special place in American history. Explore Hope’s contributions to the war effort with this captivating, nostalgic exhibition (organized by the National World War II Museum in New Orleans) that tells the story of Hope’s wartime work and looks at how his legacy still reverberates more than 70 years later. Highlights include film excerpts, interactive displays, previously unpublished photographs, wartime correspondence between Hope and service members, WWII-era relics engraved to Hope, and Hollywood Victory Caravan programs and scrapbooks.

So Ready for Laughter: Bob Hope and World War II  is organized by the National WWII Museum, New Orleans, and made possible by the support of the Bob & Dolores Hope Foundation.

Exhibitions at New-York Historical are made possible by Dr. Agnes Hsu-Tang and Oscar Tang, the Saunders Trust for American History, the Seymour Neuman Endowed Fund, and New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
